Children’s Privacy Policy
This statement discloses the privacy practices for portions of StMichaelsFCU.com directed at children under 13.
St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union will NOT:
- Collect online contact information from a user under 13 without prior verifiable parental consent, which includes an opportunity for the parent to prevent use of the information and participation in the activity. When we do not obtain prior verifiable parental consent, online contact information will be used only to directly respond to the child’s request and will not be used to contact the child for other purposes.
- Collect personally identifiable offline contact information from users under 13 without prior verifiable parental consent.
- Distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information collected from a child under 13 without prior verifiable parental consent.
- Give the ability to a child under 13 to send e-mail, create personal Web pages, and participate in forums or kids chat rooms without prior verifiable parental consent.
COPPA
Because we care about the safety and privacy of children online, we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), effective April 20, 2000. COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulation establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet.
We offer the following for the protection of children under 13:
- St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union will only collect personal information from persons who register for services provided by St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union. These services are not directed toward children, and the initial registration process requires the registrant to indicate that his/her age is at least 13.
- St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union does offer a listing of Web sites created by third parties and linked to StMichaelsFCU.com that are aimed at children under 13. While St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union cannot be held responsible for the content of any Web site created by a third party, before a site is listed, it is manually screened to check that it is appropriate for the category.
- Since St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union is not responsible for the content of Web sites created by a third party, St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union cannot ensure that such Web sites have a COPPA children’s privacy policy in place. Therefore, in the listing of sites directed at children, St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union has placed a warning notice to children.
- If any parent believes that information about his/her child was collected by St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union prior to the effective date of COPPA, or was mistakenly collected thereafter, the parent can contact St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union, using the information given below, in order to find out what that information was and may request to have such information deleted. In order to ensure the safety of the child in question, St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union will require verification of the parent’s identity.
St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union is the sole operator collecting information through this website. If you have any questions regarding this policy or the safety of kids at StMichaelsFCU.com, please contact us at:
